Exact Refund Put Me In The Negatives With The Amount Of The Refund

I was paid an amount that I refunded afterwards because of a card issue, but the refund didn’t put me at $0 but instead they put me deep in the negatives. Are they expecting me to come out my pocket to pay it off?
