Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
For the last 2 months I have noticed extra shipping fees being charged for packages that we're sent the previous month. My question is am I being charged for the extra shipping price plus what I paid to send the package initially? Why is the extra shipping being added? I drop all my packages off personally and receive a receipt, so why are the postal workers allowing us to drop them off and not say anything after the package is weighed? This is becoming very bothersome and affecting my monthly sales goal.
Hi, @Nene85
It sounds like you are being charged for shipping label adjustments.
Shipping label adjustment charges occur when your stated package weight differs from the actual weight measured by the carrier. Once you have shipped the order, the shipping courier verifies the correct shipping label price. If you paid an incorrect amount to ship the order, then the courier will credit or debit you the difference.
You can learn more about price adjustments and how to avoid them in the future here.
Hope this helps!

While the packages are weighed when you drop them off, the onus is not on the worker who accepted the package to ensure the label purchased is accurate. If it is not accurate, it will be flagged before it reaches its final destination.
The adjustment price is sent to Shopify by the courier and is an adjustment, so it does not include the initial amount you paid for the label.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your insight, @Sharon-Reeds!
I would agree that these factors more than likely played a part in why you were charged an adjustment fee on that particular order, @Nene85.
Moving forward, there's no harm in asking USPS if they can verify the labels you've purchased upon drop off to help avoid adjustments afterwards.

Yes, the usps is lying. I have discrepancies as well.
Any issues with the USPS should be brought forth to them directly! They have a contact page here.
