Free shipping with 2 or more products in cart

We want to offer free shipping when a customer has (any) two or more items in their shopping cart. I cannot find any way to do this and searched the Shopify App Store without success. Has anyone done this before and if so, could you share how you did it? We’re on the basic (not plus) Shopify plan.

Hi there @cheesecakemania! Thank you for posting your question. I'm happy to look into this with you. What type of products do you sell?

In this case I would recommend setting up a discount code for free shipping following this guide here. You can set up the conditions for the discount so that it can only be used when a customer has 2 or more items in their cart. While this discount will not be applied automatically, if your customers enter the code at checkout and meet the conditions, they will receive free shipping.

To make this discount code more visible to customers you can share this discount code in a marketing email or include it in an announcement banner on your website.

Another option would be to set up a free shipping rate for orders over a certain order value or weight. For example, if you know that 2 of your items will cost $20 at a minimum, you can set up a free shipping rate for orders with a total order value of $20 or more. More information on how to set up free shipping rates can be found here.

Thank you, using a discount code seems like a quick hack that could work. It would however mean that no other discount codes could be used as Shopify (to my knowledge) does not allow stacking discounts. Let’s see if someone has a suggestion that does not need to resort to using discount codes, but thank you a lot for pointing this out as an option!

You can easily achieve this with Multi Carrier Shipping Label App. The app allows you to set quantities & shipping rules based on that. For example: If you set max 2 quantities & set shipping rule as Free Shipping or Flat Rate Shipping, it will get reflected similarly in your checkout. The app has a 14 day free trial. You can check out if it meets your requirements.
