Google & YouTube App - Missing Shipping Rates Error

Google & YouTube App - Missing Shipping Rates Error

I'm having trouble with "Missing value [shipping]" and "Missing shipping in some countries" errors, hope someone can help. My settings:

- Google & Youtube app set to "Automatically import shipping settings"
- products have weights specified
- no custom shipping rate profiles being used at Shopify = "general shipping rates" profile only
- almost all rates come from Canada Post carrier via native Shopify Shipping
- only one shipping rate is "my rates" (Canada) using a weight range table in addition to above carrier rates
- Merchant Center shipping service specified in "settings > shipping and returns" (first screenshot), which I named "Merchant Center Default" and contains one rate for Canada (second screenshot)

I believe that we are required to enter *something* as a shipping rate at Merchant Center under "settings > shipping and returns", otherwise our listings will not be approved at all. So I have, and did a little rate table (third screenshot), and just noticed the tooltip... does anyone know what that means, and could it be the reason my Shopify rates are being ignored? I am totally at a loss here.

Solution: For each country you target, you need to setup the shipping rates.

Your diagnostics tab screenshot, shows you are targeting lots of countries, so if you do that, then you also need to setup a shipping rate for each and very country.

You're right, I have not set up rates for every country I ship to in the Merchant Center (I have  done this at Shopify however). My understanding was that the app for Shopify was supposed to forward the rates from whatever our settings are at Shopify and pass them on to Google Merchant Center, overriding whatever whatever we specified in Merchant. Is that indeed the case? And if it is, do I still need to set up a rate for every country I ship to at Merchant in order for Shopify to forward my shop rates and override the Merchant rates?

Not if you are using other countries, if you want that you should use a more advanced tool such as: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds?show_store_picker=1

Ah, well I think I figured it out.

The "Carrier and app rates" we set up at Shopify do NOT get forwarded to Google, only the "your rates" you create manually in Shopify do (on the Basic plan, at least - maybe it can with better plans?). So I created rate tables for different country zones at Shopify, and did *not* create rates at Google except for the lone required domestic one, and now my listings are being approved.

Unless I'm missing something, it's simply not possible for Shopify to forward the automatic Canada Post rates displayed in my checkout, even for just Canada. So whether you manually create rates one country at a time at Google (ugh) or create them at Shopify (at least you can group countries together), you still have to create rates manually.

If this really is the case, I wish that would have been totally clear in the app info, would've saved me several days of potentially having lost out on sales (no traffic) and trouble trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong and bugging several people for help. Can you tell I dislike making rate tables?? LOL! 😛

And let's also nicely ask the app developers to figure out a way to forward our carrier rates to Google someday... sure would be nice for rates to update there automatically instead of having to manually edit them every time prices go up!

I work by resolving issues, by any means possible. So the solution is as per previous reply.

Hi There!

I am running into the exact problem you were. What do you mean you created a "rate table"? Do you know use the carrier rate anymore?

I do use Carrier Rates (Canada Post), however in order for a shipping rate to be recognized by Google Merchant Center and allow my listings to be approved, I had to create at least one manual rate under the "Your Rates" tab (see screenshot) in each shipping zone.

By "rate table" I'm just referring to how I set up the manual rate I created [in my case based on weight, e.g. 0kg-0.1kg = $5, 0.101kg-0.201kg = $10, etc.]

You don't have to do 3 rate lines as you can see I've done below, but I had to create at least one in that tab in each of my zones before a single listing would be approved.
