Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
I can't find any way to link my Stripe account to Shopify to accept payments. I've tried "Third-party providers", "Alternative payment metnods" and "Manual payment methods". Stripe doesn't appear in any of these lists. I also don't see any apps by Stripe in the App Marketplace.
Has Shopify eliminated this option?
If not, please could someone tell me how to connect my Stripe account?
Hi, @furrydeath!
Rose here from Shopify. Thanks for reaching out!
The reason you are not seeing Stripe as a third party payment provider is likely because your country of business either does not list Stripe as an available option or Shopify Payments is available instead. Shopify Payments is powered by Stripe therefore, if you are in a region that offers Shopify Payments as a gateway, Stripe will not be available.
With that said, can you kindly confirm your country so I may pull up the relevant payment information for your region?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers!

Thank you for confirming.
In fact, Shopify Payments is available in the United States which is why you are not seeing Stripe as an available payment gateway. You can see the available payment gateways for merchants in the United States here.
With that said, you can find our guide on setting up Shopify Payments that will outline the steps to follow. One of the benefits of using Shopify Payments is that you do not need to pay transaction fees - something that you would have been subject to when using a third party payment provider such as Stripe. You will only need to pay the standard credit card fees that are unique depending on which plan you are on. You will also be able to view and manage your payouts directly from your Shopify admin.
I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please let me know.
Cheers!

@Holly We would like the card payments to be paid via our own stripe account so we can track it all on one dashboard and have it all linked to our one stripe account for efficiency and because shopify payments takes a much higher fee per transaction than our own stripe account does.
We are in the UK is this option not available?
Hi, @San_DVC !
Thanks for reaching out about this.
In fact, since Shopify Payments is available in the UK, Stripe will not be a payment provider that you can directly connect to your account. The reason being is that Shopify Payments is powered by Stripe and by using our payment gateway, you will not be paying transaction fees on top of the credit card fees. This is why Stripe is unavailable in all regions where Shopify Payments is.
If you were located in a country where Stripe was available, you would incur a transaction fee from Shopify along with a credit card fee with Stripe. Shopify Payments voids transaction fees for third party payment providers. Therefore, the option to use Shopify Payments over Stripe benefits our store owners greatly in that regard.
I hope that helps!
Cheers!

Hi Rose,
can you let me know the position with my situation.
I am Based in the republic of Ireland (so not the UK)
Shopify payments is not open to me as we sell alcohol (from my own research as far as i know this is correct)
we already have our own and linked customers accounts in Stripe set up
Can I link my stripe account to shopify?... please say yes?
Hello Rose or whomever reads this that works for Shopify.
I, too, want to connect my already existing stripe account to shopify in order to streamline information. Shopify payments is supposedly powered by stripe hence leading many, such as myself as well, to believe that one would be able to connect a stripe account to the shopify system.
I would really love to have a general overview of all transactions that are wired to my account along with the respective interest fees that are being charged so that my accountant can make sense of what is coming into my bank account. Otherwise, I have to send individual csv spreadsheet files to my accountant. Imagine having to do this thousands of times a month and the kind of headaches one would have to endure?
It would be wonderful to have the ability to download a PDF file with all of the transactions that have occurred within a month, for example, so one would be able to download that and use that as a reference point when doing bookings and accounting.
Thank you, looking forward to an answer.
We are using stripe for subscription-based purchases. If shopify has dropped stripe in US (where we are), then is there a subscription option in shopify payments? I am not able to find something like that.
Maybe it's because Shopify payments is available in your country. But another way to do this is to change your country to a country where Stripe is not available and link your account. After you link your account you can then Switch back to your original country.
Aso, if Stripe is not supported in your country you can set up your UK company with Incorpuk (https//incorpuk.com) in order to gain access to Stripe irrespective of the country you reside in.
