How can customers effectively use gift cards at checkout?

I have a customer trying to use their gift cards to pay for a purchase.

however when they type the code in at checkout  it comes up as in valid.

i am not sure how to resolve this. 

please can someone help?

Hi,

Search for that gift card in the admin area and check the state of the gift card, it will be either active or disabled. If it is disabled, then this might be causing this issue in checkout.

This is only a suggestion but I can recommend you to add to your choice (e.g. gift card) one more original and small present - a greeting card!
