How can I add a checkout fee for orders under 500 euro?

If a customers total order value is less than 500 euro without the shipping cost, I want to add a fee of 100 euro at the checkout. How do I do this?

You might be able to accomplish your goal by using one of the selection of fee apps in our app store.

Apps like Upcharge here can allow you to add fees like this, as a percentage of an order or a fixed amount as you specified. 

Can you tell me a bit about your business and what you're selling?

Are you still getting set up to use Shopify or have you been selling a while already?

I tried UpCharge and the idea of the app is right. But with UpCharge you get a whole new product. But I want just a subtle one line above the total order price. Can you help me with that?

Thanks for getting back to me here and for sharing that update.

Other than browsing some of the other apps available or contacting some of the developers to see what they might be able to do it would not be possible to add a fee like this with just the Shopify admin functionality.

You could try setting up a workaround where your shipping rates for orders less than €500 are increased by €100 to account for this, along with some messaging informing your customers of your policy. 

It might also be worth your while to browse our Experts Marketplace to see if a custom solution might work better for you, though it may not be possible to conditionally edit the price of a product in this way due to how the admin is coded.
