How can I avoid using Shopify's shipping feature?

Hi all.  Thanks for your help.  Newbie here.  I have a shipping center set up in my house.  I do NOT want to use Shopify shipping.  (I know, I'm a control freak 😁).   How does that work?  Do I just not print a shipping label (is that when I would be charged for shipping?).  So Shopify would just refund me the cost of shipping with my other monies?

Hey, @valarieg! Welcome to Shopify Community!

I'm happy to help you out and answer your question about your shipping setup. You don't have to use Shopify Shipping if you prefer an alternative method of printing your shipping labels or shipping your orders. In this case, you can simply set up flat shipping rates. To do so, you can follow the steps below.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Shipping and delivery.
  2. Next to the shipping profile that you want to add a shipping rate to, click Manage.
  3. Next to the zone that you want to add a rate to, click Add rate.
  4. Enter the name and amount for the rate.
  5. Optional: Add weight-based or price-based conditions.
    • Click Add conditions.
    • Select whether to base the condition on order weight or price.
    • Enter the minimum and maximum value for the condition.
  6. Click Done, and then click Save.

With flat-rate shipping you don't need to spend on shipping labels within Shopify so there would be no need to refund shipping costs. The shipping fees that customers pay will go to your payouts so you may retrieve the funds from your bank account to purchase shipping labels outside of Shopify.

I hope everything is going well with your store! If you haven't finished setting it up, this general setup checklist will help you become familiar with our platform and get your store ready for your launch. Feel free to refer to it if you need it!
