How can I bypass the organization number requirement in Shopify payments?

I live in Sweden and it seems like I cant leave the organization number blank in shopify payments. I looked it up and to get the number they say that I will have to register a company. Wich probably will be alot of extra work, is there a way around this?

An organization identity number is typically one of the documents that our verification team may ask for at any point during an account verification on your store, not just its set up, if you're using Shopify Payments. You can take a look at this help guide for more information on this and other requirements for Shopify Payments in Sweden.

 

While I can understand that it may require extra work to obtain an organization number for your business, I recommend consulting with your local tax authorities to check whether or not your business will require it in order to meet and follow the most appropriate tax ruling for your specific region and situation. Our Shopify Support team aren't tax experts and so cannot provide you with any tax advice, however I did manage to locate this website for organization numbers, which may be helpful for you to start off with.

 

For more information however, if an organization identity number document isn't available, one of the following may be accepted instead:

  • VAT Registration
  • Articles of association
  • Financial statements
  • Notice by the Registration Office in the Official Gazette
