Hey @BradleyGTRENCH

It sounds like you are trying to change your store currency, but cannot as you have already made your first sale is that right? I am sorry to hear you haven't gotten an answer from us yet - may I ask how you contacted us? If it was via email then it can sometimes take 24-48 hours to receive a reply, depending on the team capacity.

You can feel free to reach out to us using this link here. We offer live chat, email and phone callback (when available) so you should be able to reach us to get your currency changed. Please do let me know if you are having difficulty with that and I can help.

To provide some extra context, the reason why the store currency cannot be changed after you have made a sale is to prevent accidental damage on the store. There's a couple of things to keep in mind before you change your currency which I will briefly outline below:

  • Shipping rates for the store will maintain the old currency and will not update to the new one automatically. You may need to delete the previous rates and add them back in manually with updated pricing in your new currency.
  • Product Prices will also not convert, so after changing your currency you should review them and make any necessary currency conversions.
  • Any previous sales/reports will not automatically convert. E.g. if your current reports give a total of €500 in sales and you change the currency to USD, the reports will say $500 (the currency changes but does not convert).
  • Any apps that interact with your currency may break or behave strangely after changing the currency. You may need to check with the app developer to see if changing your currency will have any effect on the app.
  • Gift cards with remaining balances in the old selling currency will not work once the selling currency of the store has been changed.

Are you currently using Shopify Payments? You can sell in multiple currencies if you are in an eligible region for Shopify Payments. This would allow your customers to checkout in their local currency. Have you also seen what Shopify Markets can do to help sell internationally?

It's a free cross border management tool that makes managing international markets easier, so it might be worth checking out for your store!
