How can I collect a deposit and balance for my party rental business?

Hello, 

 

I am a party rental business owner and would like to collect a 30% deposit when my customer orders/reserves a rental unit. I am using Appointo for my bookings, so the user will provide an event/delivery date. 

 

I would like for the customer to get an email for balance payment collection 3 days prior to their event date. 

 

Are there any known apps that could help me with my use case?

Hi @letshangnow There can be a workaround that will help you in this case.

 

I am assuming that you are taking any advance payment right now from your customer.

 

  • So there are some payment apps you can use where customer can pay you in 4 installments and I think in this case this can be the best app, right now there is no app that can split the payment in 30-70 part, but can try to connect with these apps that use to provide 4 installment option, if they can have anything like this in their system or not.
  • The another workaround that I can think right now is you can just charge 30% in the start and write in the product description that the rest payment will be charged before the delivery date, and once they place the order the email will be sent to them according to the product they bought(assuming there may be different rental for different product) and before the delivery date you can send the link of rest of 70% payment through the email and through SMS so they can pay to you (You can send a direct link or make a product in shopify with rest of 70% payment so that it will show you in the Shopify itself).

I know it may sound little complex but these are the workaround you can use in this case.

 

If you will unable to implement the same then I'm happy to do this for you, let me know. I can implement the code changes so that this will work well for you.

BookThatApp has a "Deposit" feature (https://support.zetya.com/hc/en-us/articles/4514738224271-Deposits) that adds either a "fixed" or "by percentage" deposit to all/specific products. The app also has a notification system that allows you to enable and customize notifications. You can add and customize reminders for specific products on select plans. You could create a reminder to notify your customers that they have an outstanding balance. However, you won't be able to show them their balance in the email. You would need to manually create the draft invoice from their order and submit it to their email from Shopify's end.
