How can I disable the auto-selection of cheapest shipping option?

Hi Team,

When clients go to checkout, the shipping options are presented but the cheapest option is automatically selected. The issue we're having is that the cheapest option that's presented is only available to our subscribers and not to everybody. So I'm wondering if there's a way for this to be disabled so that the cheapest option isn't automatically selected.

At this time it's not possible to disable the auto-selection of shipping rates at the checkout. I understand how the feature can positively impact your business so I'm glad to submit it as a feature suggestion to our platform development team. While it's not an immediate solution, rest assured that we take these suggestions into consideration when creating updates. If we decide to disable the auto-selection of shipping rates, we'll publish an update on our changelog.

 

Even though the solution you were thinking of isn't feasible, there's another solution that I believe may help with the situation. Since you're only offering the cheapest shipping rate to a specific group of customers (in this case, your subscribers), I suggest looking into an app that offers shipping rates by customer type. I've found one that you can try: Bespoke Shipping. This way, you won't need to show the special shipping rate to all your customers and it prevents the possibility of them selecting a shipping rate they're ineligible for. Feel free to give it a go! If you have questions about the app, you're welcome to contact their support team through the details found on the Support tab of the app listing.
