Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
I have been trying to work around the COD option on shopify and it is getting really irritating. I want to apply COD on specific items/collections only. COD attracts customers but if the customers use COD for items that are not eligible for COD, this becomes a loss in dropshipping. Regardless how big the disclaimer you write under COD on the payment page, people simply do not read.
What is the best way to limit COD to specific items/collections/vendors on the website? THIS IS URGENT.
Hi @calmguy007
On Shopify Checkout it's not possible to limit the COD option to only specific products or collections. This is because you can't edit in any way the checkout unless your store is using Shopify Plus and without the ability to edit the checkout you can't limit COD to only some products or collections.
If you need to limit COD to only some products or collections you have to use a separate order form for your Cash on Delivery orders. With our app QuickForm - COD Order Form you can create a separate order form for your store where your customers will only be able to place orders with COD, and you can limit the order form to only the products and collections you want by going in our Visibility settings here:
You can install the app for free from the Shopify App Store here: https://apps.shopify.com/releasit-cod-order-form (you can also find a demo store on the App Store where you will be able to try the form)
If you need help or you have doubts or questions you can always contact us from the app (we also offer support via WhatsApp!)
Hope this helps!
Marco
You can try using Advanced Cash on delivery app if you are an Indian merchant. It's a free app by Shopify. To limit showing cash on delivery on specific products, create a shipping profile with those products. Let me know if this works for you.
Hi @zac_husky can you please help me with this? I use the Advanced COD app and have created profiles, but how do disable COD from some select products? Thank you in advance.
This app only restricts based on PINCODE & cost, not on the basis of a collection or tags.
Hello @calmguy007
It's now finally possible to restrict Cash on Delivery based on the products in the cart, so you can now disable COD for specific products or collections.
To do it you need to install first our app Releasit Cash On Delivery from the Shopify App Store here: https://apps.shopify.com/cash-on-delivery-fee
Then go on the Limit COD page and you will find the option to disable COD for specific products here:
We also offer 24/7 support on the app, so if you have any questions or you need help feel free to contact us from there!
I hope this helps you!

You have a valid point regarding loss in dropshipping if the customers choose COD for not eligible items. You can very easily solve this problem using PayRules: Hide Payment Methods app now. Follow the below steps to disable COD for specific products and collections at checkout.
According to the above screenshot if the order now contains any products from Hydrogen collection or the order contains The Complete Snowboard product then the Cash on Delivery payment option will be hidden in the checkout page.
