Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi
I'm not the first to ask this question and I can see that several others have asked for this feature.
Please can admins have the ability to convert abandoned carts into draft orders. I have had various customers (for reasons unknown) not able to complete a card payment online. I am having to take details of orders (often between 30-100 products) and enter it all manually bypassing the website cart and payment systems so you people are losing out and I'm sat manually processing orders.
thanks
Simon
Hi @Simon_Dachtler,
Shopify keeps a record of when customers don't complete their purchase in the abandoned checkout. You can change it into Draft order with steps :
- From your Shopify admin, go to Orders > Abandoned checkouts.
- Open the abandoned checkout you’d like to make into a new order
- Click More actions and select Create Order
- Make any necessary changes to the order, then click Save
I hope this answer helps you.
Hi @Simon_Dachtler ,
Please help me check on that order and you will see more actions :
Or you can share your screenshot here for me to see it.
I hope this helps.
Interestingly, I have the exact same problem: there is no 'more actions' button at all. Just 'print'.
This is so frustrating.
Did you use the app proposed below or found a solution?
Eugen
Hey there, @jagXtreme. Thanks for following up on this thread here! My name is Imogen. It's good to chat with you!
I just wanted to jump in here to provide some additional context. At this time, you cannot natively turn an abandoned cart into a draft order. In order to do this, you can either create a draft order from scratch using the information from the abandoned cart, or you'll need to make use of custom coding or a third party app like the ones mentioned in other replies in this thread. I believe that the first reply to this thread is using an app to turn that example abandoned cart into a draft order based on the second screenshot they provided.
We've received a lot of feedback around this topic in the past, so I'm happy to take the time to pass along some additional feedback to our Developers on your behalf! I can't promise what the outcome of this passing of feedback will be, but you can trust that our Developers will be made aware of this thread, and the desire for this functionality.

Wow, that was quick !!! Thank you! Much appreciated.
To recover abandoned carts is obviously a big thing in marketing. But what is often neglected is that carts are abandonded for very different reasons.
The marketing community focuses on carts abandoned at will- and then start nagging (spamming) people to cajole them into buying.
In my shops, the main reason is that shoppers are hit by a difficulty either with payments or with a product feature that they only discover at the last minute. And that's where their struggle starts.
Some of them actually contact me asking for help- and I could easily help them by just making it right by converting it into a draft order and then into a real order where they can just choose to pay. Shopify has a lot of this functionality already built-in- it's just missing this seemingly simple and easy feature to convert a cart into a draft order. Very hard to believe where the problem is because converting a cart into an order is your business. And, converting draft orders into real orders is already solved.
One just wonders what is the problem with this one...
Thanks for all of that context, @jagXtreme! You definitely have a solid use-case for why this functionality would be valuable to you. Even if you can make these draft orders from scratch, doing so is time-consuming, and also leaves room for error vs. just hitting a button to quickly get the draft made.
I can't comment on why this functionality doesn't already exist (I'm not a developer so I'm not privy to all the technical information and context behind the scenes) but I've got my fingers crossed that our feedback share here may yield some results some day in the future!

This needs to be native. No one wants to add another app with access to customer's personal information. I align with all needs of those here. please keep pushing for this. thank you.
I 100% agree that his should be simply part of the Shopify system. We used Sellerdeck and Oxatis previoulsy and it was part of the program. A simply more actions button should be there from the start. Shopify please sort this out soonest.
Hi Simon,
If you are open to using an app for this, I think my app Draft Order Helper (https://apps.shopify.com/draft-helper) can help!
After installing the app, you can go to the Abandoned checkout that you want to convert to draft order, there should be a "More Actions" dropdown, and you can click the "Create Draft Order" option, and the app will create a draft order for you.
Hope this can help!
Regards,
Axel Kee (developer of the Draft Order Helper app)
Thanks
Yes but that's another $7/month for me to use that... crazy it's not inbuilt into the system already.
