How can I recover a POS sale payment that Shopify didn't capture?

My scanner malfunctioned so I had to use my iPad to check out. The transaction seemed to have gone through but when I check, it is asking me to collect payment. This is a POS sale and I may never see the customer again. Does Shopify capture this information? Can we recover these funds?
