How can I restrict COD payment for ebook purchases?

Hi I have 2 payment options on my website Cash on delivery and credit card.

I have an ebook that is not a physical product.

I would like to prevent people from choosing the payment option COD when they buy the ebook only.

How can I do that please ?

Thanks for this excellent question. I wanted to refer you this answer given on a previous post about this very query.  As the answers outline, this is unfortunately not currently possible natively on Shopify.

However, with that being said, I will certainly be adding your feedback about this to our development team. @Ivy thank you for mentioning a reply I gave on a previous post, but that reply is now outdated.

This is not directly possible in Shopify's settings, but you can do it by using our app Releasit Cash On Delivery that you can install for free from the Shopify App Store here: https://apps.shopify.com/cash-on-delivery-fee

Then go on the Limit COD page on the app and you will find the option to disable COD based for specific products here:

Here you need to select your ebook product and COD will not be available on your store if the order from the customer contains the ebook.

You can restrict COD payment for ebook purchases using the PayRules: Hide Payment Methods app. Here's how you can do it:

1. Choose "Cash on Delivery (COD)" from the "Select payment methods" field.
2. Assign your E-book products to a tag named "ebook"
3. Now in the "Tags" field, select "Hide if found" and add the "ebook".

This will ensure that the COD payment option is not available when an ebook is in the cart.
