How can I set up payment systems for US-based dropshipping as a non-US citizen?

Hey guys! I have a problem. I am not a citizen of the United States or any other country supported by Stripe or Shopify Payments. But I opened an LLC in the USA with my actual address, also received an EIN code. And still I faced the difficulty of connecting the payment system. Can you please help with solving the issue? The main task is dropshipping.

Hi, @Schmalz.

Thanks for reaching out and posting to the Shopify Community.

I understand that you're not a resident of the United States however, you've obtained an LLC in the United States with your address and your EIN.

If you're looking to use Shopify Payments and are located outside of the supported countries/regions, you'll need to provide the below requirements for a review. The request for Shopify Payments review must come from the account owner. I would like to advise that providing the below requirements does not guarantee that it will be approved. Our Internal Team will need to review your account to make the decision.

Requirements for Shopify Payments review:

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver's licence/passport. A non-US ID may be accepted)
  • A Tax ID in the United States: EIN for LLC/Corp.
  • Business registration document (Registered in the US with the government)
  • Proof that your business is actually operating from the US. This can include tracking showing you are shipping from the US or proof of a physical US address. (Not a forwarding address)
  • A USD checking account that has been opened with a real US banking institution. Must be located on US soil. Virtual banks and currency services will not work for this, it has to be a real US bank.

I recommend getting in touch with our support team via the Shopify Help Center so we can take a closer look at your account and share what next steps can be taken.

Lastly, I'd love to hear what you're currently working on for your business. How did you get started and do you market your business on social media?

I look forward to hearing back!

Thank you very much Victoria for the information provided!

I will be very grateful if you can help me. I am ready to provide documents confirming the company's registration in the USA and my local ID. But, unfortunately, so far I have not been able to find a bank that registers an account remotely for foreign citizens.

If you can help me with this issue and refer me to a trusted bank, I will be very grateful to you!

Thank you for your follow-up message, @Schmalz.

In order to locate a bank that registers accounts remotely for foreign citizens, I encourage you to consult your bank or a financial advisor for recommendations on which financial institution best suits you and your business needs. I also recommend researching whether it is possible to open a U.S. bank account online as a non-resident, or if you're required to apply for an account in person.

Once you're ready to provide the required documents for Shopify Payments I've shared above, there should be a secure upload banner located in your Shopify admin. This ensures your documents are safely and securely submitted to our internal team.
