How can I set up Shopify payment without a business registration number?

My store is a small unregistered online business in Hong Kong, I am trying to set up Shopify payment. However, it requires a business registration number (BRN) which I don't have as it is not registered yet, What can be done?

Greetings, I hope your day is going well.

If you don't have a business registration you should be able to use a commercial register extract or a Certificate of Incorporation. Unfortunately, if you don't have any of the above, you will not be able to use Shopify Payments. This is due to regional requirements that our banking partners are obligated to follow.

If you are unable to use Shopify Payments you can use one of the many other payment gateways available to merchants in Hong Kong SAR. You can find a full list of these options here.

In the meantime, I would love to learn more about your business if you're willing to share!

I am in the same situation and was going to create my website until I got to the payment and realized they requested a BNR. May I know if you found a work around ? Many thanks
