How can I turn off default payment methods on my webshop?

Hi there,

On our webshop we only want to usee the alternative payment options.

However, by default we need to keep using the Shopify Payments (I cannot find out how to switch this off).

So, how do I disable Shopify Payments?

Thanks,

Hi @JozefHomespring,

Thank you for reaching out today with your question.

If you head to Settings > Payment providers, you will see an option to "Manage" Shopify Payments:

19-08-32uai-rw7qy

At the very bottom of the next page, you will see an option to "Deactivate Shopify Payments".

This will complete the process but if you run into any issues, please let me know!

Kind regards,

Hi @AmarK,

Thanks for getting in touch. Which payment gateway are you trying to set up when entering in your IBAN number? Which country are you based in?

Kind regards,

Hi, if disabling the shopify payments while the store is running and there are orders that have not been fulfilled yet, how will deactivating the payments affect the sales?  And also how can I add stripe?

Hi @saintjoseph0212,

Deactivating Shopify Payments after you have received payments and have outstanding orders will not affect your payouts, it just means you will not be able to accept payments via the gateway moving forward. If you are in a country where Shopify Payments is available, you will not be able to use Stripe. There are, however, other third-party gateways you can use. To see which ones are available, please go to our gateways page here and choose your country from the list.

Hello, I faced a serious problem and I don’t know how to solve it. I put my country, California, which is not my place of residence, and the payment of supervise was linked to it, and from here I could not receive the payments, it is asking me to fill in data that I do not have, they ask for the tax number and social security and I am not a resident of those areas Can any of you change my place of residence from within the SHOPPAY settings and that in order to restore the normal status of my payments ??

Hi @Hurmaine,

Did this happen when you were activating Shopify Payments? Can you tell me which country you are based in if you are not in California?

Kind regards,

Hello my dear brother, Shopify has proven the payment, and I am neither a resident nor a resident of America nor from the supported countries, by mistake and I am from the Arab countries and I have faced many problems due to the wrong payment and I want a solution for that, which is changing my place of residence so that I can add appropriate payment methods for my country ... I hope that You would understand that if you are interested then write in response that I am waiting for you and this is the store where you made the mistake:

Hi @Hurmaine,

Okay, thank you. If you head to Settings > General in the Shopify admin, you can change the store's address from one in the USA to your address in your home country. Once this is done, you'll be able to select a different payment gateway available in your country. Please let me know if you have any issues with this process.

Hello, dear brother, I did not understand the method, is it possible to send a screenshot or explanation in detail if this is possible, or a YouTube clip to facilitate understanding and cracking?

Thank you very much, sir. You opened the control panel and applied what I mentioned step by step, and I was able, thanks to God, then thanks to you, to overcome this serious problem. Thank you, my dear brother, for your kindness and the quality of your customer service.

Hi @thiagocalixto,

If you are in a country where Shopify Payments is available and you are eligible to use the gateway, you can activate the gateway again if you deactivate it. If you've chosen a different primary payment gateway in the meantime, you would need to deactivate it in order to be able to use Shopify Payments instead.

Dear Viktor,

I see the "Manage" button, but it is dimmed and not clickable? Do you know how to make it accessible?

Hi @JozefHomespring,

Is this "Manage" button next to Shopify Payments in the Payments section of your admin? Do you see an option to deactivate anywhere? Can you also tell me if you've processed any orders via Shopify Payments yet?

Hi Victor.

I'm trying to activate my shopify payments account, however, I might've have provided my business address in the section where it asked for the address of the individual running the shopify account/the business owner. If I remember correctly, the address fields were already auto filled with my business address and it also didn't say "residential" address so I left it as it is with my business address.

So the problem now is that I'm being asked to provide a document to verify my address. I provided my Business Bank Account Statement which clearly shows my business address but I've received a request again for address verification. I am not a resident of the UK, only my business is registered in the UK. Any bank statement or utility bill I might provide will be showing a residential address which is located outside the UK. Can you please advise how to go about this? Can I deactivate Shopify Payments and then reactivate and reapply for it again?

Thanks

Faizan

Hi @infoloadmedia,

Don't worry, this is a common occurrence. I'd recommend contacting our support team directly about this and they can then escalate this to our payments department. They can then take down your correct address information and ask for the relevant documentation.

Hi Victor,

Thanks for your reply. Can you please advise who exactly should I connect with/ask for from support and what should I say to them?

Thanks

Hi @infoloadmedia,

You can start a live chat via the Help Center by speaking with the chatbot and asking to be connected with a member of support. When you've started your chat, you just need to outline your issue with the address on your store and then they can advise on next steps. I believe they'll likely take down your information and then escalate this to our payments team for them to review.

Hey Victor, I'm having a problem with shopify payments and want to use stripe instead. How do I do this? Do I deactivate shop pay? Then add stripe? Also what happens to my Shopify balance?

Thanks!

Hi @Gamurph,

Can you tell me what country you're in, and why you're looking to switch to Stripe from Shopify Payments? Stripe is not offered in countries where Shopify Payments is available.
