Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi everyone!
I'm soon to be started with my first online store on Shopify. I just noticed a problem by ordering a sample of my product through my store.
My payments are on hold, which is fine for now, but the reason is that I can't provide an address verification. I live in London, and have no contract for the room I rent (very common in this city) so my name wouldn't appear on any utility bill. Is there a way to avoid this step and get my payouts set up?
Thanks!
Hello @Buurodropship!
When it comes to verification of your address for Shopify Payments, it is true that all of the steps are necessary and it's not possible to skip a part of the process. This is because the gateway requires proof of either a business or physical presence in the country from which you operate.
I won't be able to look into this for you from here, but if you get in touch with our support through this link, our team might see if there is an alternative for you, or if they could make it work with whatever you can provide.
You mentioned that you're only getting started with your first online store - how exciting! How are you finding the platform so far, has it been challenging to set up? For whatever issues you might encounter, make sure you check out all of the great resources we have to support you in your Shopify journey, those include our Shopify Help Centre, the Shopify Blog and the Shopify Compass - all super informative and beginner friendly!

Hi Lana,
Thanks a lot for your reply and for all the info. I managed to speak to someone on the help center chat earlier. I've been given a list of document that can be submitted instead of a utility bill:
- Utility Bill
- Statement from a financial institution
- Government issued letter
- Solicitors letter
- Council or housing association documentation
- Benefits Agency documentation
- Electoral Register entry
- NHS Medical Card
- GP letter of registration with the surgery
So I'll just use a bank statement to make it work.
Oh and also, yeah Shopify is very user friendly 🙂 not having any difficulties so far, Thanks!
Cheers!
