How can we use Shopify Payments like a standard payment gateway?

We take MOTO for clients and have no issue with first integrating with say STRIPE, taking the payment and then loading the order to Shopify, all good. The problem arises when the client uses Shopify Payments and we have to use checkout and then payment and basically conform to ecommerce. Can we not just use Shopify Payments as a gateway and add a credit card and data to a form and submit like any other gateway??
