How do I add the option for a rural delivery charge at checkout?

Hi there, a simple way to deal with rural delivery charges here in NZ is to add the option for the user to select a rural delivery surcharge at checkout (an honesty based system!), however I can't see where or how to do this alongside our other shipping options we have in settings (that have conditional pricing with them). Help please... I know it's easy...

It's not possible to add an extra option at checkout for buyers to select a rural delivery surcharge.

If you're using Shopify's flat rate options, you can define rural areas as a separate zone and set up shipping rates accordingly.

Alternatively, consider using an app to integrate directly with your NZ Post account and show carrier-calculated rates at checkout.

This way, you don't need to worry about rural charges as they will be automatically calculated and displayed at checkout.

If you're at the stage where you're interested in automating some other parts of your shipping process too, you could try our app Starshipit. You can add your NZ Post account and show carrier-calculated rates at checkout, as well as adding margins based post code etc. Just a thought and could be worth looking into.
