How does Shopify determine which translation to use for a Payment App Extension's "checkout name"?

We have a Shopify Payment App Extension (that we built!) that has a checkout name "Buy now with X". We have provided translations in Italian, German and French. However, when testing with our merchants, our "Checkout name" still shows as the English "Buy now with X". I have tried changing browser locale, using a VPN and changing my (mac os) system language but none of these change the wording (after ensuring cache's are clean etc).

Does anyone know how this works? Do we need to build multiple apps with different core translations for the "Checkout Name"?
