How long does it take for a shopify payment to reach my bank

Hi,

I have only just started selling on shopify and I have had my first sale where payment has been made using shopify payments. Ordered was filled and is out for dispatch which was five days ago and i still have not received payment?

I have set payments to pay everyday but nothing has been paid to my bank account yet?

I can see that you are wondering about your Shopify Payments payouts, and in particular why you haven't seen anything in your bank account yet. Here in the Shopify Community we can't access your account information, so I cannot say for sure why the money hasn't reached your bank yet, but I'd be happy to provide some general information to help you figure this out.

 

You mentioned that you set your payments to every day. Can you confirm what region you are located in? Payout periods are specific to each region - you can see specific information relating to your region here, which includes the minimum payout periods.

 

I would suggest checking your payouts in your Shopify Admin, as it may help to understand what is happening. To do so, you can navigate to Settings > Payments and then click the View payouts button in the Shopify Payments section. Here you can see your scheduled payouts, and the estimated date that you will get paid. 

 

Each payout will have a status, and it will either be 'In Transit', 'Paid' or 'Failed'. In Transit means that the payout is still being processed and hasn't been completed yet. Paid means that your payout has left Shopify and has been sent to your bank (keep in mind that your bank will have their own processing times for deposits into your account, which can typically take anywhere between 1-5 business days). Failed means that there was an error when trying deposit your funds, and it should show more information about how to resolve it.

 

If you still have any concerns after checking out the above, then feel free to contact our support team directly and we can take a closer look at your payouts and help you figure out what is happening.

Hi Rick

So my regions are only set to the the USA and UK at the moment. The order came from UK and has been processed. It also shows as paid in the order section but pending in the payout section. Maybe you could be right and its in transit taking 3-5 days as per bank regs. 

I shall wait for this week then you let you know how it goes.

The minimum payout periods would be based on the region your store is located and that you have Shopify Payments set up in. It shouldn't matter where the orders come from, as the payouts are based on your own region.

 

In this situation it's possible that the 'pending' payouts have been scheduled to be included in an upcoming payout - as mentioned if you check the payouts section of your admin you should see more information relating to your upcoming payouts.

 

Can you confirm if you have completely set up Shopify Payments, and all verification steps have been completed? If you haven't completed your Shopify Payments setup yet, then it's possible all transactions could be marked as pending. To rectify this and get the funds deposited into your account, you would need to complete the setup. You should see messages in your Shopify Admin home screen if there is action required.

 

If you are unsure then I would suggest contacting our support team so that we can take a look at your account, and try to identify the current status of your payouts.

 

Besides this payout query, how is your store coming along? It sounds like you are making sales which is great. Are you based in the US, and targeting the UK also? I would love to hear more about your business and the things you are working on!

Hi, I have similar problem here in NZ where payments are stated to be every day. Just set up in May and first 6 orders from 29/5 ( only orders received so far) to a family member who have had Visa charged, the orders were flagged as potentially fraud but as I know they are not I have then fulfilled order which have now arrived but am out of pocket as nothing paid and payments still marked as pending, have contacted Bank and it’s a business account and no issues to receive payments.

I understand that you also have some concerns about the status of your payouts. Thanks for confirming you are in New Zealand. You mentioned that payments are every day - as you can see here, the pay period for Shopify Payments New Zealand is 3 business days. This is the amount of time from when a customer's payment is captured to the date that those funds are actually sent to your bank account. 

 

You mentioned that orders were received on the 29th May and you still haven't received the payouts. As that is well beyond the 3 business days, it's likely that something requires attention. Are you seeing any errors or warnings either in your Shopify Admin homepage, or in the Shopify Payments setup in Settings > Payments?

 

That's great that you have contacted your bank to confirm the account is in good working order. If you cannot figure out why these payments are marked as pending, then contacting our support team will be a good idea as it will allow our team to take a closer look at what is happening with your account.
