Hi, 

 

A week ago, we were requested to submit extra forms, either W9 or EIN confirmation letter to further verify our US tax identity.

 

Since some parts were a bit confusing, we asked the Shopify team a couple of questions. It took a week. Then, we suddenly got an email from the Risk team that our Shopify Payments has been disabled.

 

We submitted again all the evidence of us operating in the US and being a US business, along with the requested EIN confirmation letter.

 

When could our Shopify Payments be reactivated?

In situations like this there is no exact time line for a resolution. You will need to reply back to the email you received from your Risk advisor to discuss this further. Even with proof of all the documents, that does not mean that businesses located outside of the USA will be given access to Shopify Payments. 

 

Only the risk agent working on your case has full insight into the decision of your Shopify Payments access, you will need to reply to the email and wait for their response back. In the interim, I would start looking at alternative payment gateway options for your business.

Hi Shay,

 

Our business is located in the US, and we ship our products from the US. We have been operating as such for over three years.

 

We have provided every information possible - EIN, bank details, proof that the business is operating in the US, the only part is that the representative of the firm is not a US citizen, but Shopify team said it is okay as long as we provide them an EIN number - I have replied back to the Risk team, but I haven't heard anything yet. 

 

When would they reply, and if we are located in the US and operating in the US, are we allowed to use Shopify Payments?

These reviews are handled by a specific team who look at a wide range of factors of every business. No business is guaranteed to have full access to Shopify Payments, and businesses that do use it go through regular reviews to ensure they are continuing to follow the acceptable use policy for the payment gateway.
