Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
We ship a heavy product and our customers order more than one case. The problem is at checkout, our UPS account assumes total weight to calculate shipping cost, not weight by the case. How can I correct this?
Greetings @Dana35 ,
When utilizing Shopify Shipping, the shipping cost is primarily determined by the total order weight and the default box dimension.
If you have intricate box packing requirements, the rates displayed at checkout will be approximate. However, you can input the actual weight and dimensions when generating the shipment.
For those with their own UPS account, consider using an app that supports multi-box packing. Keep in mind that not all complex box packing scenarios can be fully automated in such cases.
Hi, @Dana35.
Thank you for reaching out!
Just to clarify, do you sell your product by case or individually? You would need to have seperate weights for these items, similar to how the price would be different.
Please let me know if you have any further questions! I would love to learn more about your business. What type of products do you sell?

Emily--We sell Watt-Ahh bottled water. It is a heavy weight product to ship via UPS ground. There are two bottle sizes and each case has the same amount of water. So that is interesting that we need to place in the app a different weight of case per bottle size? Thank you for your offering and I will forward to our IT guy too. Dana
Hey @Dana35
To echo Emily's question, in these cases, do you want their weight to be separate from the total order weight (such as, they ship separately and receive their own shipping label)?
Our app Intuitive Shipping can handle an array of shipping requirements, where it can have products ship separately, do multiple box shipments and calculate a live rate (even use your UPS account to receive discounted rates). There is a lot more our app can do, so depending on your shipping needs, you can use a lot of our features or few (no paywall with any features).
If this is something you would like to learn more about, please book a free Demo and have one of our awesome customer success team members show you.
If you need any more information, let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

Hey @Dana35
Our app will use your UPS credentials to retrieve the live calculated rate. So whatever rate from the discount you would receive, we will also get and your customers will see at checkout. You can go a step further if you would like and amend the cost even more if you feel like it (discount or markup).
You can download our app, and when you do that, you are automatically entered into Sandbox mode (this is free for however you want...and I mean years if need be). In Sandbox mode you can test everything out and see if it is a good fit.
Again, if you have any further questions, please do let me know.
Thanks,
Chelsey
