How to best setup shipping for different sized prints?

Hello:

I will be selling prints at 4 different sizes, unframed and framed. So there will be different shipping sizes and shipping fees. All will ship from one location.

Any advice on the best way to set up shipping with this scenario? Potential issues to avoid?

Thank you

Hi, @Secretrock_012!

Where will you be shipping your products from?

If you're shipping from a fulfilment location that's supported by Shopify Shipping, I recommend using this feature so that you can take advantage of Shopify's shipping carrier accounts. The benefits of using Shopify Shipping includes:

  • Allows you to display carrier-calculated shipping rates on checkout for customers, instead of flat rates
  • Enables you to get reduced rates for your shipping labels
  • Allows you to print shipping labels directly from your Shopify admin

You mention that you sell your prints in 4 different sizes – is there quite a significant different in sizing?

Something to keep in mind when shipping products that are widely different in sizes is that because the Shopify admin can only assign one default package on checkout at this stage, you might find that your default package may be either too small or too large for some of the products on checkout. Where this might run into issues is that customers on checkout may end up paying less than what the true cost of the shipping cost is, as charged by the shipping carrier. I covered this topic on a separate forum post previously, feel free to have a read of it here for more information.

I'll also send you through some shipping blogs that you can have a read through for further help:

Are you planning to ship internationally, or just domestically?
