How to calculate and print shipping labels in New Zealand?

Hey team,

I am about to start a store selling products in New Zealand. I've got no idea of the best way to

1) calculate shipping costs based on location (there doesn't seem to be anything for NZ postal services, just American and Canadian) - Should I just go a flat rate for rural and a flat rate for urban?

2) Have an easy process to print the shipping label - again, there doesn't seem to be an option for NZ-based courier companies (NZ Post, NZ Couriers, Fastway etc.). 

If anyone has any experience doing a similar thing in the NZ market, I would love to hear your processes.

How is your experience so for with "Bespoke shipping" app, are you still using this app or using something else. Hi David, can I be really cheeky and get a copy also please - [email protected]  Can you also tell me how you get around the fact that lots of rural people do not choose rural delivery?  Do you just have to suck it up?  Is there a way you can go back to them and ask them to pay the extra?  Its so difficult not to upset people but on the other hand that extra money is out of your profit! It's quite an old post but check out this awesome tool: https://apps.shopify.com/shipping-by-map

It allows you to draw areas on a map to create custom shipping zones and set their own costs.

Following on from @David_Moore I also recommend Bespoke Shipping for predefined NZ shipping rates.

I have written out the NZ postcodes in the correct format specifically for Bespoke and also separated into them NI urban, NI rural, SI urban, SI rural. Feel free to send me through requests for this code 😃

Just chiming in here (a little after the fact but the advice may still help someone else!). NZ Post has a service called eShip which is a great option for smaller businesses. There's also a variety of services based in NZ, like Starshipit, which give you the ability to integrate multiple carriers and get control over which rates you offer, to who. Food for thought!

I use eShip ShipStation for purchasing tickets. 
NZ Post don't offer an app that feeds live pricing in a Shopify cart so I use Bespoke Shipping to define the priciing. It is a little complicated to setup but once its done and/or you get your head around it, its pretty simple and low maintanance.

You can also print NZ Post shipping labels directly from the Shopify dashboard.

I do update these codes occasionally as I find some customers point out there postcode is giving them the incorrect rate.
