Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
I run a shop that ships internationally, and recently, I found out that for shipping to a particular country, the postal service requires customers to provide not only their address but also their Tax Number.
However, I am using Shopify Basic, which doesn't allow me to edit the checkout page directly.
On the other hand, shipping to this country is crucial for my business, and I absolutely need to collect the Tax No. along with the address.
Is there a way to add a new field or Text of reminder in Check out page for the specific shipping country
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
You can play around with the Shipping method and it's description and make it show up only for a specific country. This logic can be implemented by one of those apps: https://apps.shopify.com/search?q=checkout+rules
The other option is to implement a custom code for your Cart drawer where depending on the Country you ask your customer to input the Tax Number before checkout, and then pass this data to the Order Notes.

You could create a separate shipping zone for the specific countries and include the additional text within the name of the shipping option. While this may not prevent customers from completing the order without providing their Tax ID, it will increase the likelihood that they notice the request and ensure they include the required Tax ID.
