How to enter a gift card for a customer after they placed order?

I have customers who forget to enter their gift card codes when ordering, and then give to me when  we deliver.  I can't find a way to enter these on my end into shopify.  I know I can just mark the order as paid and cancel the gift card, but I would like to show that the gift card was applied to the order.  Also want it entered so my accounting is correct as all unused gift card revenue is in a separate account.  


No luck with online chat support, hoping someone here can help

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some guidance with managing orders to get this resolved.


As the original order was fully paid, I would recommend refunding the order and having the customer place it again utilizing their gift card. This would be the best course of action to ensure all finances are correct and allow notes to be added to the timeline history. not really a good solution - last thing I want to do is get my customers to do more admin and have to reenter the whole order.  just looking for a way to apply a gift card to an open order, before I send to the customer to pay the balance.  I'm surprised this isn't something that a shopify admin can do on their open orders, any suggestions?
