How to fulfill an order with local delivery without a tracking number?

Hello! I have a reoccurring customer who paid for another order. It is someone I know personally. Since I am going into town I am happy to deliver the item instead of doing the shipping due to the holiday etc. I do not know how to fulfill the order completely if I don't take it to the post office now. If I deliver it in person, I know the person does not mind if I keep the $4 shipping cost for gas. However then I have no tracking number to put in to complete the order and receive my funds. Do I need to refund just the shipping cost and then it will allow me to fulfill the order. Please help I need an answer by tomorrow morning!
