How to get the Order Date on the invoice - not date of printing...

I'm using the Order Printer app and I'm looking for the liquid code to add to get the ORDER DATE to show up on my customer's invoice.

Right now I can only get the date the invoice was printed to show up - which is perfectly useless in all regards.

(Did a search and all hits were "outdated.")

Hey, Janit!

My name is Ava, I’m one of Shopify’s Gurus and I’m here to help 🙂

That should be something we can help you with here ?

If you go to the Order Printer app and select the invoice template to edit, you will see this option here -

The piece of liquid you need for the date the order was created is here -

So you can replace the current date with {{ created_at | date:  "%m/%d/%y" }} to list the date as mm/dd/yy

There is more information here on how to change the format.

Let me know if you have any more questions, happy to help!

Ava

Hi,

I think we can help out with this one. We are running the Printout Designer app which allows you to customize your invoice or packing slip templates in any way you want using our Drag & Drop Interface.

With Printout Designer it is possible to add any kind of logos in any size to look great without the trouble of coding.

You can check it out here: https://apps.shopify.com/printout-designer

I hope it helps,

Robert

Just solved this, bored of search and replacing dates every week! Bit late in the day but wanted to share.

In your code find this Line, close to the top

Packed on {{ "now" | date: "%d/%m/%y" }}

Replace it with:

Packed on {{ "+24hr" | date: "%d/%m/%y" }}

Ava's answer worked for me very well.  The bonus is that it didn't cost any money monthly in order to use the free Order Printer.  My problem is solved too!  Thanks Ava!!

{{ created_at }} is always showing as blank for me in the order invoice email template.

I can use {{ date }} to show today's date just fine though.

So the example from Ava in this thread doesn't work, what am I missing here?

Hi Mark based on your explanation I'm guessing you have a code problem, by default all code should reflect the order's date. However, as I found out if the "now" code appears beside the {{date}} liquid theme it shows the date currently. Kindly double check or paste your code here.

@Ava

I've just printed orders received this morning - 12 December -and the date on my printed document is 11 December. I'm assuming this is a time zone issue as I'm in Australia - is there a way to resolve this please?

Hi, @BonzaDogTreats!

Could you check the time settings in your admin section? You can see this under Settings > Store Details > Time Zone:

16-21-6698-22003

Could you check to make sure the time settings are correct? Let me know what you see!

Thank you for the screenshot! I'm wondering if this would be an issue with the coding of the printing template you're using. Are you currently using the Order Printer app from Shopify or a different method of printing your orders?

The best thing to do for now is to contact our support lines here to chat with one of our Support Advisors. They will be able to authenticate you as the account owner and take a closer look at these orders and your printing method to see where the issue lies! I'll be away over the next few days myself, so our support team can get the ball rolling on this for you right away. Let me know what you think!
