A customer ordered from my website using shop pay installment and Shopify showed me these warnings and marked them as medium fraudulent

  1. Neutral
Some characteristics of this order are similar to fraudulent orders observed in the past
  2. Neutral
Card Verification Value (CVV) isn't available
  3. Neutral
Billing address or credit card's address wasn't available
  4. Neutral
Billing address ZIP or postal code isn't available to match with credit card's registered address
  5. Neutral
A payment method other than a credit card was used
  6. Neutral
Location of IP address used to place the order is Brooklyn, New York, United States

Are these warnings coming because shop pay installment was used? Most of the warnings say "isn't available" so i'm confused as to how else payment would go through

Hi @Jewel3

Rein here from Shopify. This is a great question. What these messages pertain to is not because of Shop Pay itself, but more so the characteristics of the customer and their past activity.

While it is entirely up to you on how to proceed, we do have recommendations that you can read here. This generally constitutes verifying the customer information and making sure they did indeed intend on placing the order. If you are not comfortable with their answers then you are free to then cancel the order yourself.

If you think the customer themselves are not who they say they are then please take the appropriate steps to protect yourself and your business with the information the service has given you and what you can gather yourself.

Thanks, Rein
