How to keep shopify from sending order confirmations, etc.?

I just setup flows in Klaviyo. One of which is for order confirmations.

Klaviyo is sending them out, HOWEVER, Shopify is also sending out their generic ones (the templates are just so generic, it's sad).

How do I keep Shopify from sending? I've unchecked all the boxes in the notifications setting in Shopify Admin but they still send. 


ALSO - If anyone knows... I have prefixes setup for Shopify Order numbers for tracking. My Klaviyo emails aren't displaying this, and just display the last 4 digits of the order number. How do I fix this?

Hi @ebo8302,

 

Thank you for reaching out. It is not currently possible to disable the default order confirmation email that is sent out when a customer completes the checkout process, with this email serving as the customer's receipt following their purchase. 

 

If you are not happy with the default order notification even after making edits to the template of the notification, you could perhaps change the wording of the default notification to notify customers that this email is simply a confirmation of the order with a second, more detailed email to be sent to them soon after. It's not a perfect solution but as the default order confirmation email cannot be disabled this might be your best option.

I've tried customizing them, and I can't get them to match the ones I want (the ones I designed in Klaviyo). I've even tried copying and pasting the code from Klaviyo into Shopify, but it Shopify won't let me save them.

Right, thank you. Order notification templates do need to be editing within the Shopify admin and it's possible that Klaviyo uses code and style guidelines for their templates which are not compatible with Shopify. 

 

If you're needing help editing and customizing the templates within Shopify you can look into hiring a Shopify Partner who has experience designing templates.

Hey @ebo8302, just to add some other food for thought: I've found that when talking to businesses, getting the "post-purchase" email series right is really important. It has a big impact on whether customers determine whether to return to a business or not.

 

While it may not be the right solution for you now, considering shipping automation in the future means that you can customise all of your shipping emails quite easily, adding different blocks and branding etc. One of these solutions (Starshipit) even integrates with Klaviyo so you can create automated emails based on shipping events. Anyway, good luck!

This is exactly why I'm wanting these emails to be sent from Klaviyo, because the ones from Shopify all look like 💩! I had all these setup to send thru Klaviyo, BUT Shopify was still sending theirs, so customers were getting two emails for every event (new orders, shipping, etc.)

Yep that's quite frustrating! Hopefully they add the capability soon!
