How to know from my clients if they pay with credit or debit cards?

I would like to make an historical statistics about the method of payment of my clients, How can I know specifically if one pay with credit or with debit card?

The Payment by type report under Analytics > Reports will show you a breakdown of the payment provider and credit card type. If a customer used a debit card, it is likely co-branded with a major credit card company, so it will typically show up as "Visa" or "Mastercard" without specifying that it is a debit card.

May I ask why you're interested in collecting this information? I'm not sure if I'll be able to offer another solution, but I'm happy to look into it.

It is to know if they use more debit or credit card, customer behaviour. But if I understand you well, there is no way to know finally?

That's right, I believe these transactions will just appear as "Visa" or "Mastercard". I looked back at some of the purchases I made using my Visa-debit with Shop Pay, and they just show up as "Visa".

I am under the same predicament, we take payments over the phone and the rate on shopify is fixed however the bank are offering us different rates to take payments over the phone using another method which varies from 0.39 up to 2.18% - it would be good know what the split is for our own internal costing purposes... is there anyway to see this?

We cannot specifically define if it's credit card or a debit card that your customer used to pay for the order. You can only see the "type of card" that the customers used to pay but not specifically about debit or credit.

Better Reports here lets you analyse your sales, payments, inventory, customers, payouts and more. There are numerous pre-built reports. You can also create custom reports, so this might be helpful in this case!
