Hello,

has anyone managed to get paypal working as a payment method? I have chosen it in the admin panel and linked it to my account. Status is active. I have allready contacted the support, but it is horrible. No help in sight. So you are my last option.

I have the following to issues:

1. Customer gets order mail. Now he clicks the link to proceed payment. As a payment method he chooese paypal and logs into paypal. The amount in the basket is about 50€. After login in to paypal the amount in paypal is 1 cent. When he tries to pay, he gets a payment error of course.

2. Goods in the basket. Choose express checkout with paypal. Delivery costs will be calculated in next step. Login to paypal, delivery costs are not included. Paying resolves in a payment error.

My site: stoffsuchties.de

I would be very grateful for any suggestion.

Best regards

Diaz

I am having massive problems with PayPal right now too. We have used it with no issue for several years, but since last week my customers are getting error messages saying that payment didn't go through. In a couple of cases, PayPal charged their card but we never saw the money!! This obviously makes us look bad when we have to say "Sorry, but we don't have your money." I had to completely disable PayPal for now because I can't trust it, but 50% of our customers prefer to pay that way so we are now losing sales as a result! So fed up with PayPal right now.

Hi there, @Diazepami.

Thanks for reaching out and posting your question to the Shopify Community.

Based on the information you've shared, it sounds like you've successfully connected Paypal within your Shopify admin > Settings > Payments section. Your customers are experiencing issues when selecting Paypal as a payment option.

To gather a bit more context, could you provide more information on the following:

  • Share a screenshot of the payment error customers are receiving.
  • What information did Paypal advise when reaching out about this issue?
  • Is there an error API code located within the order timeline or an abandoned checkout timeline? You can identify the order timeline by clicking Orders > click into the affected order and scrolling to the Timeline section. For abandoned checkouts, click Orders > Abandoned Checkouts, click into the affected checkout and view the Timeline.
  • If you're able to locate the API code in the order timeline, Paypal has listed what the error codes mean in their NVP and SOAP API reference resource.

Lastly, did you know you can remove the powered-by-Shopify text? This text can be removed from the footer section of your store and allow for a clean and professional look. It can aid in branding and customers will no longer see Shopify in the footer. Learn how to remove the text through our help center resource here.

Looking forward to your reply!

Thank you for your response and for sharing the screenshots above, @Diazepami.

I appreciate you checking the order timeline and abandoned checkout for error messages.

I'd like our support team to look at your admin and account settings to identify what is populating the error at checkout. If you've recently created a support request, I recommend replying directly to it. If not, you can create a support request through the Shopify Help Center to get started.

Finally there is a solution, which only can be provided through Shopify support. The problem is due to an update to the checkout. The developer allready know the issue and are trying to solve it.

If someone hast the same problems: The only fix is, that shopify takes back the update of the checkout. Then everything works as excpected.
