How to set up Shopify Payments on an existing site?

I've taken over an existing site and am struggling setting up Shopify Payments.  It says  "The account owner needs to provide some additional information to start accepting payments with Shopify Payments".

I have set up 2 step authentication.

Any ideas?

Hey again, @newby11. Thanks for following up!

 

In order to have your staff account become the store owner account, you're going to have to have the current store owner account transfer ownership over to you. We have a document that outlines the steps on how to do this for you here.

 

You'll need to have the current account owner follow the steps outlined at that link so that way your account can be made the new store owner. It shouldn't take them very long to complete the steps at all!

Hey there, @newby11. Thanks for taking the time to reach out to everyone here in the Community with your Shopify Payments issue. It's nice to meet you!

 

Based on the error you've provided, you may be using an account that is not listed as the 'Account Owner' when accessing the shop. You mention that you're taking over an existing Shopify Store, so I have the following questions:

 

  • Did you have ownership of the store transferred to the account you use?
  • Are there any other accounts that have access to this store? You can check this by going to 'Settings' > 'Users and Permissions' to double check. If you don't have access to this section of the admin, this will suggest that you're using a staff account, and not an account with owner permissions

Please, double check these pieces of info for me, and get back to me here when you can. I'll keep my eyes peeled for your reply.

Next obvious question...  How do I switch from being STAFF to OWNER??
