How to Setup Weight Based Shipping Rules Along with Free Shipping

Dear Support,

My Shopify has around 4000 Products. Weight starts from 0.02KG to max 0.45KG. I want to configure below shipping rules.

Flat shipping INR 50.00-  Order Value INR-499 - Weight up to 499gms. 

Free shipping - Order Value INR 500 or above. Weight up to 499gms. 

Weight Based Shipping - Order Value any. Weight 500gms and above. Weight slabs gets changed on every 500gms. 

Ex.

500gms-999gms - INR 70

1000gms - 1499 - INR 140

and so on... 

The issue is, The weight-based shipping gets triggered as per the configuration but.. on the checkout, it shows two options. Free Shipping and Weight based. The user is always choosing free shipping.  

My requirement is, the system should show only one shipping option, based on settings. Please check the attachment for my shipping settings. Please suggest how to achieve this without the 3rd party app.

Both free and weight-based shipping together is not possible within Shopify. This ultimately displays both the shipping methods at the checkout, similar to the screenshot you shared. You can try creating different shipping profiles based on the weight of your products and assign rates accordingly. However, the drawback that you might face here is the issue of combined rates. When using multiple shipping profiles, if orders contain products from different profiles or locations, this will result in combined rates at the checkout and the higher rate is charged.

Currently, the only available workaround would be to use an app to set up more specific shipping rules, mentioned by you. Based on your requirement Multi Carrier Shipping Label App will be the right option. This app allows you to set multiple shipping rules like free shipping along with weight based shipping & many more to automates your entire shipping process.
