I think Im getting scammed?

I had a couple of payments which were on hold, I had no clue what for so I contacted shopify and used their Ai. It recommended me to check my email. I go on to check my email and received something from an email called "shopifymerchantconsultantteam@gmail.com" saying that I received a DMCA strike and my website was subjected to blockage as well as being taken down. I was currently in the process of moving so I wasn't able to respond until today. But this is was they said,

"Dear Valued Store Owner, We have received a DMCA takedown notice from a theme developer claiming that your Shopify store is using an unlicensed theme. This is a violation of our policies, as themes must be purchased directly from Shopify's Theme Store. Your store will be taken offline as soon as possible if this issue is not resolved. To address this, you can: Purchase: Buy the theme from Shopify's Theme Store. Delete: Remove the unlicensed theme from your store. Transfer: Transfer a legitimately purchased theme from another store.

Please respond to this message immediately for assistance from our Shopify support team. Provide details on how you acquired the theme to avoid suspension of your store. We appreciate your cooperation and prompt response. Best regards, Shopify Team" 

Now all Ive been using was the Dawn theme I just edited it to fit my taste, but I also didn't leave this alone and told them that Ive been using the dawn theme, and it shouldn't have received a DMCA strike. They then responded with this,

"We hope this message finds you well. We're following up on the copyright takedown notice concerning your store. It's imperative that we receive your theme license and details promptly to address this issue and prevent any potential disruptions to your business. Your cooperation is vital in upholding Shopify's licensing terms and platform integrity. Please provide the requested information at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter."

I then apologized for the late response since I was moving and asked what can I do to prevent this. They then sent me this.

"
Thanks for your response, Upon investigation, we have noticed that your store is using the Shopify theme called DAWN THEME VERSION 14.0.0 Unfortunately, your store has been found inactive on our system due to several back-end code errors that are affecting visibility, theme functionalities, and could potentially lead to the closure of your store.

Here is the analysis: (they provided me with my website name as well as the robots.txt)

As you can see, all disallowed areas and directories are not permitted to be active, visible, or activated on our system. To address these issues, we recommend consulting with an expert who can assist you with updating and fixing these problems for free, although some configuration services may incur charges.

Please contact one of our senior experts on Fiverr, a top-rated and trusted platform Who specializes in resolving such issues as soon as possible.

(they gave me their fiverr) or on their email: (Here is where they put the email)

Important: Immediate attention to your store's robots.txt file is crucial to prevent shutdown."


Since i was still moving i couldnt respond until i had gotten some internet but they said my website was subject to shutting down and me losing all the money that was currently on hold. So i contacted the fiverr seller and asked what do i need to do, he told me it would take 15 hours to fix and he charges 10 dollars an hour. So I said no problem. I then submitted the payment and i asked him what he needed from me to fix my website, I first asked if he needed the collaboration code. He then said no and he needed my login info. That threw a huge red flag, and now im looking all the way back on all of this. I can still cancel the fiverr order as well which I will do, but I just need some clarification.

Official Shopify accounts would never email from a @gmail.com account. This sounds like a scam and I would recommend not engaging with this account any further. Additionally, if you can please download the email headers from your conversation with them. You can find a guide on downloading email headers here.

 

From there, Please sending the file as an attachment to safety@shopify.com. This will allow our team to analyse the information and follow-up if necessary.

Official Shopify accounts would never email from a @gmail.com account. This sounds like a scam and I would recommend not engaging with this account any further. Additionally, if you can please download the email headers from your conversation with them. You can find a guide on downloading email headers here.

 

From there, Please sending the file as an attachment to safety@shopify.com. This will allow our team to analyse the information and follow-up if necessary.

Thank you very much, I just got my WIFI back up and I'm glad I cancelled that order when I seen the red flags. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.

Like @Dirk  said it is a Gmail email so scam for sure. 

Dawn is a free theme and you have a license here https://github.com/Shopify/dawn/blob/main/LICENSE.md

Also do think about what "expert" for 15 hours of "work" would charge 10$ 🙂

The last thing, asking for your login is just too much. Glad you figured it out.

Do cancel the order and if possible report user on Fiverr.
