Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
I'm a Shopify Partner who helps maintain a store for my client. It's not a Shopify Plus store, just a standard Shopify store account.
The client is selling the store to new owners. Is it possible to change the payment of the Shopify store account to payment via bank account or even Shopify balance? I did see in some documentation that paying for the store via balance needed to be done before July 28, 2021. Are there any exceptions to this?

Once the ownership change happens, the new account owner can request to make such changes on the account.
Now, accepted payment methods vary depending on the region. Here's a list of accepted payment methods from our Help Center. It outlines all possible methods of payments we accept depending where you are.
And you are definitely right that using Shopify Balance to pay off your bill will only be enabled if this was done prior to July 28, 2021. I currently do not see any exceptions on my end regarding this matter. However you are more than welcome to open this conversation with our Support Team. They can always confer with our Money teams regarding this and see if other alternatives are available for you and your store.
