Is it possible to test a product's market viability without charging customers?

I have built a site and now want to test the product that hasn’t even been manufactured.

I have renders and prototype graphic designs created.

to validate if this product is something that will sell I now want to advertise and see if people will buy - without actually taking payment. 

I need is a checkout that more less confirms the customer is 100% buying. 

1. add to cart

2. checkout

3. card details  

- 

4. order failed - this is where I capture the order but the customer isn’t charged.

this validates a sale.

is this possible?  I have done this with magneto and woo and it’s great for validating.
