Is store billing address public / visible to customer?

Just to be clear is the address listed under settings -> store details -> business address .. listed anywhere  when you have the locations address listed correctly, under a different, default address? Thanks, sorry if redundant, searched around first but thought it best to ask.

No worries at all! This is a common concern so I understand why you want to ensure your store address isn't visible to the public. I'd love to clarify this for you!

 

As long as you don't customize your email notifications to reflect your store address and you use a different address as your default location, the address listed under your store details will not be visible anywhere. Only the default location you've set in Settings > Location will be visible on the shipping labels you purchase in your admin, if you ship your orders yourself and decide to buy labels.

I'm sorry but this is simply not true. By default, the store address will be visible in automatic marketing emails unless you edit the respective email templates. So, it's more like the other way around: "as long as you do customize email notifications to not reflect your store address..."

 

I learned this because a friend purchased from my store and then sent me a screenshot of my personal home address in the footer of an email automatically sent by Shopify, and I had to scramble to figure out how to hide it. Either you have to get a P.O. Box and make that your store address and it will automatically update to the P.O. Box everywhere in emails, or you can go in and edit the templates manually yourself, to not show an address (and sure enough, when I looked at the templates, there was my home address, right there in the footer of my marketing emails being sent to God knows who). Although, there are apparently laws in some areas about having a shop location listed in emails. Honestly, I broke down and invested in a P.O. Box because I don't have time or inclination to edit templates manually, and I was afraid of possibly missing something and letting an email slip by that I didn't edit. And besides, I needed a safe return address for shipping labels anyway so it was worth it for me personally.

 

Hopefully this helps clear things up. The address you have listed in "store details" will be visible to customers unless you do something about it.
