I am trying to add my bank information so that I can accept payments but whenever I click on the button that lets me set up the PayPal it won't let me nothing happens when I click on it. When I try to add my bank account it tells me I need to step verification but when I click on the 2 step verification button it just keeps going back to the same screen

This is an accepted solution.

I finally figured this out. I unlinked my Google SSO and set up a password.
Seems like a bug and 2FA should work with sso, but this worked for me!

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble adding your bank information on Shopify. Here are some suggestions that might help:

  1. Clear your browser cache and cookies: Sometimes, an issue like this can be resolved by clearing your browser cache and cookies. This can be done by going to your browser settings and finding the option to clear browsing data.

  2. Try using a different browser: It's possible that the issue is with the browser you are currently using. Try using a different browser, such as Google Chrome or Firefox, to see if that resolves the issue.

  3. Check your internet connection: Ensure that you have a stable internet connection. Slow or intermittent internet connection may cause some features not to work properly.

  4. Contact Shopify Support: If none of the above suggestions work, then it may be best to contact Shopify Support. They will be able to help you with any technical issues you are having with adding your bank information on Shopify.

In terms of the fulfillment service, Shopify provides fulfillment services through its network of third-party logistics partners, and the rates may vary depending on the location and the fulfillment provider. You can find a list of available fulfillment providers on the Shopify App Store and review their pricing and services to choose one that best suits your needs.

I found a workaround by turning off 2 step verification and using SMS verification instead of an authenticator app. Would rather use authenticator but this seems to be the only way to get through to add banking info.

Hi Imogen,

I have still troubles with this same issue. I want to add a bank account, but I need to add two factor authentication first.

Once I have added my two factor authentication, it still keeps going back to the same screen.

I've tried all the solutions mentioned above but they don't work:

1. Clear cookies

2. Change web browser

3. Change two factor authentication method from authenticator app to SMS

4. Tried the steps in the Help Document

Can you please help me with a solution for this? Because I can't finalise setting up my shop now.

Thank you.

I'm also having the exact same issue - 22/07/24. I've cleared cookies, cache etc, tried changing to SMS verification etc and it keeps cycling me back to needing to set up 2 Step before I can add a bank account.

This is surely an error with Shopify itself if multiple people are having the same issue.

Just to let everyone else having this issue know, spoke to someone on live chat and they performed and account "resync" which has cleared the issue for us - hope this helps.

I'm experiencing the same issue as well. I've turned 2-step authentication off, tried an incognito browser, and tried Safari on my phone. Nothing has worked. This is incredibly frustrating.

What is a google sso? And how do you unlink? Im new to this and having the same exact issue

SSO is Single sign on. So meaning you sign in with your google account vs
an email (which could still be a gmail) with password.

I think I went into security settings to change it.

Yeah, ours isnt/wasnt set up to use our Google account. This may have been a workaround for you, in your situation. But was not a fix for us. We ended up having to remove 2fa, add a cell phone as a 2fa that receives a txt message. So it seems like its specifically an issue with the google authenticatior. Or authenticators in general on shopify. Even with this workaround, it was still VERY glitchy.

How do you even do this

(You must be logged in as an admin to do this)

When logged in, click on your user name in the upper right hand corner of the screen > then go to "Manage Account > then click "Security" in the pane on the left > find "Two-step authentication" and either hit "Remove" to remove one if its already there, or hit "Add" and tell it you want to use SMS delivery and enter a phone number.

Hopefully this helps. Also be prepared to clear the cache on the browser you are using. Or use a different browser. I used Edge to complete the bank set up. I was never able to get it to work properly with Google Authenticator.

It was a complete pain.
