Hi.  I've just switched our non-profit site on to Shopify Payments.  And how now switched Apple Pay on.

Putting through my first transaction, I got an error that says "The website was not able to complete the payment, please try again" and I noticed it said in the Apple Pay pop-up "Amount Pending".

How can this be fixed, please?

Hey, @Mark__Epilepsy_!

Definitely a strange error but there are a few things you can check to ensure it is not a local ended issue.

  1. Are you running on the latest iOS? If no, this could lead to payment issues with Apple Pay.
  2. Are you using the same credit card that is on your Shopify account to pay for the transaction? If yes, that could cause an issue as it typically sets off a few internal flags.
  3. Have you tried a higher amount? Some payment processors do not allow transactions under $1, so trying a larger amount may allow the transaction to go through.

Let me know what you find out and we can take it from there!

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your reply.

  1. I'm on IOS 13.5 which is almost the absolute latest version.
  2. I don''t think I have a credit card store in my Shopify account.  I added another card to my Apple Wallet, made it my default and the transaction wouldn't go through
  3. I've increased the price of my test product to £20 and it still says 'Amount Pending' on the iOS pop-up

Thanks,
Mark

Thank you for the information, Mark! I'll want to verify the store so we can take a deeper look. To do this I have sent you an email titled "Shopify Forum Support" requesting further information. If you can follow up there then we can get the ball rolling on finding a solution.

Hi Peter,

I am experiencing the same issue with Apple Pay in my store. Every time I try to order with Apply Pay, it shows a pop-up of "Payment not complete" or "Try again." I could not find a solution anywhere.

Was struggling with this for a couple of our DTC marketing agency clients. That happens when you add a custom domain BEFORE you apply and are approved for Shopify Payments. If that's the case the solution is rather simple: delete the domain and add it back again. It will take 2 minutes, the website will experience 1-minute downtime. And Apple Pay works again.
