Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
I have a bit of an issue with my ability to display a location on my local pickup section at checkout. I have about 20 locations for my company and as we all know, the only way to satisfy that is to purchase the highest-level Shopify plan. *Side note - it is a bit unfair that all 3 of the lower tier Shopify plans have the same number of locations, they should increase with plan size.
I wish to add an ambiguous location as a pickup option so that I can call my customers after they have placed their order and confirm details with them. For example, I have the ability to create a location called "Local Showroom Pickup" and am not required to give it a full address. the only thing I am required to do is apply a state to it, which works fine for me. The issue is that at checkout, this location will not display as a local pickup option which i assume is because it needs a FULL address.
My next idea is that I can give the location an address but hide the address from displaying on the checkout page. does anyone know if this is something doable as a Shopify advanced plan member?
Does anyone have any experience with an app that can display pickup options on the checkout page WITHOUT having the plus plan?
Hi @Sal-leaders,
I understand your concern about the limitations in Shopify’s local pickup feature. Unfortunately, the current Shopify setup requires a full address for each location to display as a pickup option during checkout. Here’s how you can address this issue:
1. Workaround for Ambiguous Locations
If you want to create a generic “Local Showroom Pickup” option without providing a detailed address, you can:
Set up a new location in Settings > Locations and provide a dummy address that’s near your actual showroom or central region for pickup.
Inform customers via the pickup instructions field about the specific process:
“We’ll contact you to confirm the exact pickup location after placing your order.”
2. Hiding the Address at Checkout
Unfortunately, Shopify doesn’t allow hiding the address for local pickup locations directly. The address will appear on the checkout page. However, you can make it less prominent by:
Setting a short, generic address (e.g., city and state only) that doesn’t confuse customers.
Using clear pickup instructions to manage expectations.
3. Consider a Pickup App
There are third-party apps available that provide more flexibility for pickup options, including hiding or customizing location details. Some options are:
Store Pickup + Delivery by Zapiet
A robust solution allowing you to control pickup locations, customize instructions, and display options clearly at checkout.
Local Pickup Guru
Another app to enhance pickup workflows with location management.
Both apps work with all Shopify plans, but be sure to check their pricing for your needs.
4. Feedback to Shopify
Your note about tiered plan limitations is valid. It’s worth submitting this feedback to Shopify directly via their support channels or forums. The more voices they hear, the better they can understand merchant needs.
Let me know if you need help setting this up or have any other questions!
