Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi Everyone, Happy New Year! I have a small business on Etsy that I just switched over to Shopify with the basic package. I wanted to offer local pickup as an option for my local customers however, when I set this up within the settings and tested it at checkout it errors out. Therefore, as a work around I added a free delivery rate with the verbiage "Local Pickup". Is their a way to have a custom confirmation for orders with this shipping options selected to come pickup their orders? Or is their a way to properly set up pickup with the shopify base package?

Shopify does offer a built-in local pickup option, even on the Basic plan. Here’s how you can set it up properly:
Once set up, your local customers should see the local pickup option at checkout without any errors (provided the inventory for those products is assigned to the pickup location).
As for your current workaround of using "Free Delivery" with a note saying "Local Pickup," it’s clever, but Shopify doesn’t natively allow order-specific confirmations based on shipping methods. However, you could tweak the order confirmation email to include general pickup instructions for customers who choose that option.
Lastly, if you’re still running into issues, double-check the inventory and shipping zone setup for your location. If needed, apps like Store Pickup + Delivery can add even more flexibility.

I don't see "manage" with local pickup on a basic plan. This option is only for delivery. Please advise where the "manage" section is with pick up.

looks like there are some changes. Shopify does offer a built-in local pickup option, even on the Basic plan. Here’s how you can set it up properly:
Go to Settings > Shipping and delivery in your Shopify admin.
Click on Pickup in store.
Enable the pickup option for each store location by selecting the location and checking the option to enable local pickup.
Save your changes.
