Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
My virtual shopify card info was stolen and the thief made a little under $5000 total in purchases. I tried reaching out to shopify support and they told me they can only reach out to the bank as an intermediate and ask them to open a dispute on the charges. I filed a police report and sent shopify a copy to submit that as evidence. Now in hopes to get the thief caught, I'm trying to get more info on the charges, the location to be exact so that my police department knows what county to forward my case to. The vendors related to the charges said they unfortunately aren't able to see the store locations on their end, and that my bank would know. I asked shopify support and they told me Celtic Bank is the bank in charge of my card. I reached out to Celtic and they told me they do not handle any customer issues whatsoever, and that the person to contact is Stripes as they are the ones issuing the card I guess? They transferred me to Stripes and Stripes told me the only way they can look into my account is after Shopify reaches out to them and gives them permission I think to look into it. They gave me a number to call, saying it's the manager in charge of Shopify related cards, along with an email. The number is unfortunately no longer in service and the voicemail says to reach out to shopify support. The email though belongs to a person named Robert Cavanagh. I again reached out to shopify and they told me they have no way at all to look into my account and transactions? The Shopify rep Soledad also told me they have no way at all to reach out directly to my bank/Celtic. So how did they submit the charges for dispute? Everyone is basically giving me the runaround and I have no idea how to move forward from here. Shopify's lack of alerts and fraud prevention allowed that $5000 to disappear overnight, do I have to live with being ok that it's gone now? If anyone knows anything to help, please let me know.
We are dealing with this exact issue rite now, it is a joke how can they expect us to sit here and let them hold our money and them to treat us like this? The lack of support and help from shopify on this issue has me ready to move websites and gateways this should seriously be a 2 step process and done but it is a complete joke with shopify celtic bank and stripe.

I just found out Shopify didn’t submit my disputes even though I told them to, this is absolutely ridiculous how we have no control over our money.
it seems impossible to get a human being on the phone who knows what they’re talking about anymore, and you have to push 75 buttons to get a person who will then be of no help. I returned money to two customers and somehow my Shopify balance ended up being negative the exact same amount I refunded them. Which means I paid my customers out of my pocket? Shopify doesn’t have an answer and I’m out $500. Tonight I looked at my account balance and there are fraudulent charges and nobody seems to be able to help me. Why should I have to take the time to call a different bank when Shopify is the platform holding my money? Why are they not also responsible for what happens to it? Do I not pay them fees when I have sales on top of the monthly fee for the website?? You bet if I missed the payment for my monthly charges they’d know what to do.
I’m really just tired of people not doing their job correctly, half assed, or at all, and I have to pay the same amount of money no matter what.
The people with “VP” or “senior” in front of their name who get paid 6 figures make me think I should be a bazillionaire. <sigh>
I have the same problem. I was here for 50k and charges that were from supposedly Facebook. I tried to dispute them but they say there is a maximum of 35 disputes that I can do in 120 day.. there are about 60 more that I have to dispute. They have already started to reverse a few but they still won't allow me to dispute more. I spent about 5 or 6 hours trying to contact people and the Celtic bank making no progress.
Someone help because they are going to start trying to pull from my bank account and obviously I don't have that kind of money sitting around to pay off for fraudulent charges. Any help appreciated.
I just had $2800 scammed out of my Shopify account also. I am being given the same runaround that you were being told. I feel sure that this Celtic bank has to be governed by the FDI FDIC, and that they cannot simply keep our monies. I am looking into what regulations they have to abide by because they are denying my disputed Charges and basically saying that I’m stuck with the scammers that took my money. That is totally unacceptable and I’m not giving up either. I feel like we are caught in between a rock and a hard place because if you leave the money on the Visa debit card to use then scammers can get it, but it takes three days or more to get it off the card into your checking account which means Shopify using your money. I too want to switch over to a different POS system because of this.
I’m dealing with the same issue , was told it could take up to 90 days , did anyone get their money back ?
