Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
When customers use an AMEX to check out with Shopify Payments, their statement shows my name when it should show the business name. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I have the Customer statement descriptor set to the business name.
Hi, @KrisKasper78.
Welcome to the Shopify Community!
To confirm, would you like to edit how your name appears on customers' billing statements?
To edit this section, please follow the steps listed below.
Edit customer billing statement:
Editing/changing the customer statement descriptor reflects what is on your customer's credit card bills when they make a purchase on your store. For more information on configuring Shopify Payments and editing your customer statement descriptor, check out our help center resource. If you've confirmed this section has your business name and the information on the billing statement still displays your name, please submit a support request via the Shopify Help Center.
Additionally, you can also edit the way payouts are described on your bank statements, under Payout details > Payout statement descriptor. See the screenshot below.
Lastly, I'd love to hear more about your business and share some applicable resources. What kind of online business do you have, and what are you currently working on?
I look forward to hearing back.

Hi, @summerloving.
Welcome to the Shopify Community and thanks for joining the thread!
Were you able to see my previous post on editing the customer billing statement?
By editing this section, it reflects what is on your customer's credit card bills when they make a purchase on your store. We have included in-depth steps in our help center resource.

The solution provided did not fix the issue for me. It’s not resolved.

Thank you… I will contact the Shopify help center since the steps above didn’t resolve it. @KrisKasper78 please let me know if you are able to fix it.
I know this is an old post but did you happen to get resolution to this? Same issue here - Customer checked out via Amazon Pay using an AMEX and wrote in to my customer support screaming to high-hell about why his payment went to a personal account instead of a business... I verified that my payment descriptor is and has always been set to my store name, never to personal.. No idea where this is pulling from and Shopify Billing back end team can't figure it out either... Very alarming that our PII is just thrown around like that! This is critical to fix!
I haven’t been able to fix it
I am having the same problem. This is very dangerous, especially for many social media influencers with large followings using shopify stores to sell merchandise. I don’t feel comfortable with my personal address being on statements. Hopefully something can be done about this
My store descriptor is showing up the way I typed it, but it's adding a city and state that is old...I've been in a new state for 4 years and everything I have with Shopify has been updated to that new address the entire time. I read another thread that says it's based on the info you put in for your store details when you first opened, and the only way they were able to fix it was going to the Shopify finance team (apparently not billing, finance).
Having same issue currently
