Is anyone using Shopify Shipping / Calculated Shipping / Real Time Carrier Calculated Shipping in New Zealand?
If so how is it working for you? What NZ carriers are setup for real time calcluated shipping on Shopify?
Any info you can give would be great, also your store URL so I can see how it all works.
Thanks in advance and keep on winning 🙂
My name is John and I'm a Guru here at Shopify!
Thanks for asking here about the use of carrier services in New Zealand.
While I can't personally attest to their use, I did manage to find a couple of apps in our app store that you can use to link up with New Zealand carriers using the carrier rates add-on.
Hopefully, some fellow New Zealand merchants will also be able to help out here with some more personal experiences?
Best of luck with everything here!
Hi John, we're working our way through the New Zealand shipping config in our Shopify store. We use New Zealand Couriers who don't (appear to) have an app to link to our store.
What's frustrating, utilising the weight based rates, are the provinces in the New Zealand Region. While the provinces are representative of our 'states' they are too broad to be effective, particularly with local and shorthaul deliveries.
Is there a means of modifying the Shopify provinces?
Thank you, Paul
Is there anyway to force RD addresses to use a different shipping cost option? at the moment it has to be user selected and they can select the lower cost shipping option.
We have successfully integrated New Zealand Couriers GoSweetSpot portal with Shopify.
Note that, while this application doesn't resolve the regions issues I have outlined with Shopify shipping, the integration makes the process of tracking shipments much easier.
Happy to discuss further with anyone who is looking to venture down this patch.
I have checked your reply can you please let me know how we can integrate NZ couriers to Shopify.
Hey @kulwinder21, apologies for the (very) slow response.
Did you integrate NZC with Shopify?
If not, sign up to GoSweetSpot with your NZC account. Ensure you have admin permissions.
Go to Administration menu, select Integration then select Shopify to add the GoSweetSpot App to your Shopify store.
Shopify shipments are added to the Reprint and Manifests list in the GoSweetSport portal for processing, label printing etc.
Hope this helps.
Have you made progress?
See my other post today re: NZC GoSweetSpot integration with Shopify.
Re: Is there anyway to force RD addresses to use a different shipping cost option?
I know the original post is quite old now, but I'm wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom on how to ensure the correct shipping cost is applied to Rural delivery (RD) addresses in New Zealand rather than leaving it up to the purchaser to decide?
How do you add in rural shipping as some have mentioned where the customer selects rural shipping. I have been to settings/Shipping and added in a rural rate however on testing it is not giving the option to make a selection of Standard or Rural. I know some will not be honest but at the moment I don't want to add yet another app that will cost another $20 a month. Probably something to do in the future but not until we have Covid behind us.
You have to add two rates for the same shipping parameters. The customer will see both shipping options on checkout.
E.g. 1) 'E20 A5' and 2) 'E20 A5 Rural Delivery' - see screenshots.
The E20 rate - not highlighted - is the Postcode Shipping app option which I am currently trialing. Works well and automates a multitude of shipping options, including RD surcharges to rural delivery postcodes. Well worth the USD$20/month which is only two customers not selecting rural delivery at checkout 🙂
There is significant effort required to set up the postcodes - we're exploring whether NZC can provide a postcode database of their delivery zones. You could do this manually from the NZ Post postcode directory but will require Adobe PDF export to Excel converter.
Hope this helps!
Your post has been really helpful - thank you! May I ask which postage calculator it is that you've had success with? Trying to achieve the same thing with PBT.
Thanks in advance!
So I have read all the messages. We are a brewery who 'includes shipping' in our costs but want to explore the RD surcharge option without incurring additional charges from a 3rd party app.
So does anyone have a solution that has worked for this?
Thanks, @Paul_TandG . I just tried a rural address on your store and it doesn't seem to work
I'm curious to know if you are still trying this out? I would be keen to see it work $20/mo would be a no brainer if it works.
Also, the NZ post link you provided does not seem to work, are you able to share again please?
