Notification to the customer when an item is fullfilled from a different location??

Hi Everyone,

I had a question today that I could not find the answer to on forums or from apps. We currently have multiple locations enabled on our store and orders are being fulfilled from both locations.

The issue that I am having is that the customer is not being notified that it is coming from the location that it is being fulfilled from. For example, we have a location in Charlotte, NC and one in Chicago IL. Inventory is correct and once the order is made, on our back end it tells us where items are coming from. But the customer doesn't know that these certain items are coming from the Charlotte location vs Chicago.


Is this possible in shopify?

Thanks for sharing your question with our network. I was happy to dig into this for you - similar to your research I didn't come up with any existing solutions in forum threads or apps. 

I did do some creative brainstorming with my team, and came up with a potential solution. Consider editing your existing shipping notifications to add clever 'IF' statements that recognize where your shipment is coming from, and to notify those customers. Check out our notification variables reference to learn what each piece of code does to use it to your advantage. 

This will require quite a bit of further customizing, so if you aren't familiar with custom code changes I’d suggest hiring a Shopify Expert that will be able to assist you in getting this setup.

Alternatively, I'd love to hear what solutions other business owners and partners have come up with to achieve this, or if they have any code advice to offer. I encourage others to chime in on our thread!
